Earlier this month (and August already seems like a blur) I ran my third Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association Thunderfest Poker Run in Ohio. And what keeps me coming back is its main venue, a hidden treasure called Put-in Bay. The locals call it their own “mini Key West,” and I don’t disagree with them. Once again the Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association hosted a fantastic event for its club members and many other guests who participated in the Thunderfest Poker Run to Put-in-Bay, Ohio on Friday and Saturday. Following last year’s revitalization of the fun run to and from Put-in-Bay, which was successful despite unfavorable weather and watercraft advisories on Lake Erie, the LEOPA members were blessed with excellent weather and water conditions last week and the turnout was larger because of it. Following the success of the Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association Thunderfest Poker Run to Put-in-Bay, Ohio, during the first weekend of August, the organization, which is gathering at the end of this month (August 26) for its annual Fall Fun Run from Ford Yacht Club in Grosse Ile, Mich., to Brownie's on the Lake in St. Clair Shores, Mich., put the news out that it is planning to do the run to Put-in-Bay again next year, with registration opening later in September. For the longstanding club members of the Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association, this year’s Thunderfest poker run to Put-in-Bay, Ohio, that takes place Saturday, August 5, is expected to be a special one.
